CONFESSIONS

Hi everybody!

I need to make a confession, this morning when I woke up I thought during a minute that I was good at bed, like each morning, but suddenly I had a reflexion about my mind and I was aware that today will be a great day! I spent all morning in a school, with children who are learning things of their teachers, like me in a future.

Then I woke up at “tyve over to seks” and I went to the kitchen, I was waiting to Cannan, my flatmeet, in just moment we went to Mate’s house, then we went all together to the school.

When we arrive there, teachers receive us really good, and moreover they write a sentence in English for us in the teachers´ blackboard. Mate, Vaclav, Cannan and me were separated, each one with a different teacher.

Before lessons all students have a meeting at “ott” o’clock, and they sang all together possibly a religious song, but I’m not sure because it was in Danish. My first lesson was “Danish Language” it was not too much interesting for me, because I don’t know the language. But I can saw that this school have good and new technologies, for instance, they have in each class a tactile-electronic blackboard.

The teacher explained to the pupils how they should do the activities for next day, but they read a book the day before, and now they had to fill the questions about it. The objective of these activities was learning the “question marks” in Danish: Hvem, Hvor, Hvad…

At “Ni” I went to Mathematics class, and I found Cannan there. We were paying attention to the teacher, and when she finished, she explained us all about education maths system, the new program and the evaluation.

Then we play with children to a calculator game, it is funny for them, but really easy. When we finished this class, we had a relaxed time on the teachers´ room, but Vaclav and me don’t know what happen with our program plan, it was wrong. Then we wait an answer, and Hanne, a really nice teacher, said us that we can decide where to go, and we went to a History class with one of our buddies. They were showing presentations by group about History and finally we saw a movie about the Coliseum of Rome, which are relationated with the matter that they were studying.

After that, we went to English lesson with Birte Collins, a teacher who has a broad experience, they explained to the pupils the difference between noun and verb, and then pupils went to take a laptop from a room, but I had a problem with my computer, but Vaclav shared it with me. Everyone was playing English-grammar games on the computer.

I think that it is a different way to teach, because children are tired of learning theory and it allow to the pupils learn the subject and at the same time that they have a funny time. At the end of the class, Birte taught to the children an English song and they were singing and dancing it.

After lunch break, we went with another English teacher, Sofie Weitemayer, she was teaching in a sport class, it means that this teenagers want to practice sport every day, because they like it. And the school offers lessons for this kind of pupils, because they gone to practice their sport favourite on the morning, then gone to the school, and later, they come back to the sport practical, but they must do the homework everyday, because if they haven’t got it, they can’t go to the sport practical.

Sofie used a really useful technical to learn English, because it is like a game, but at the same time they are studying and speaking English. The teacher divides the pupils in groups, an each group have different words and each one of members have to speak in English using this word. And if they don´t know the word can use the dictionary.

Finally, all Erasmus students meet with Hanne Theilgaard in a meeting room; we were speaking about our personal points of views of our practical experience. And we decide will work in that school during our practical week before and after Easter.

Like I hope with my confession, it was a great day, I enjoy a lot today, it was amazing because I was teaching English language, and moreover I can spoke with the pupils. Otherwise I think that we work a lot of hours, exactly six, but I’m not tired about that, because I was doing what I want, my job in a future.
